About Charlie Nelson

Charlie Nelson is a Latin Grammy nominee director and cinematographer. His career has led him to film commercials, documentary films and music videos for some of the most important artists on the current music scene.

Graduated in Journalism, he studied Screenwriting and Cinematography in Madrid, before moving to Mexico City. Since the beginning of 2021 he has lived in Miami, although his work keeps him constantly moving around the world.

Charlie has directed artists such as Lasso, Kenia Os, Maluma, Rauw Alejandro, Ozuna, Chayanne, Anitta, Danna Paola, Luis Fonsi, Reik, Lele Pons, Mika, Wisin, Justin Quiles, Grupo Firme, Kim Loaiza, Jhay Cortez, Farruko, Myke Towers, Alejandra Guzmán, Gloria Trevi, Big Soto, Alex Rose and Piso 21, among others. The music video, Mi Niña Remix, was awarded video of the year at the 2021 Heat Awards (HTV). He has been nominated 9 times for the Pepsi Music Awards, two times winner in 2023 including "Video of the Year". And in 2021 he got 3 nominations for the Buenos Aires Music Video Festival receiving an Honorific Mention. On the other hand, his documentary Amar y Vivir, by the MexicanAmerican group La Santa Cecilia, was nominated for a Latin Grammy 2018 in the Best Long Version Music Video Category.

His eclectic style has led him to carry out projects in different genres, his specialty being narrative. But with great projection in video clips of performances and choreographies, highlighting "Friend de semana", by Danna Paola, and "Mi Niña RMX" by Wisin, Maluma Anitta and Myke Towers and "FIEL" by Wisin, a video that exceeds 230 million views. His videos also had nominations for Premios Juventud and were mentioned on Billboard Magazine. "Ojos Marrones" by Lasso was honored as one of best videos of 2022 worldwide according to MTV and was number 4 on the VEVO TOP TEN.

He is currently working on his first feature film, and has taken the initiative to teach a MasterClass called "El Videoclip desde Cero” (Music Video From Scratch), where he shares his knowledge and professional experiences with people who want to venture into the audiovisual world. An ode to the genre of music video and the way of working it from all its levels.
